Come and join the annual Lower Sac river cleanup on April 3rd! Meet at the Posse Grounds boat launch at 8:30 AM. From there we will disperse into groups for cleanup by boat (or paddle board, kayak, etc.) and by land for those without a watercraft. There will be a dumpster located at the Bonnyview boat ramp for disposal until 2:00. Full info link in bio.

PROJECT COMPLETED!!!
Shasta Trinity Cascades chapter of Trout Unlimited just wrapped up a sediment removal project on Middle Creek, a tributary to the Lower Sacramento River. Middle Creek is an “urban stream” just outside of Redding and provides vital spawning and rearing habitat for chinook salmon, steelhead, and resident trout.
Three miles up from its confluence with the Sac lies an old man-made dam, which is essentially a sediment basin. Over time this area has filled, allowing sediment to flow freely, clogging lower sections of the stream and then running into the river. With assistance from CDFW, BLM, and time/equipment donation from Jerry Comingdeer of Crystal Creek Aggregate, an estimated 500+ tons of hazardous sediment was removed in a little over 12 hrs. This will be an ongoing project, to be repeated every year or two to keep sediment out of the lower Middle Creek and Sacramento River. Looking forward to future generations of salmon, steelhead and trout utilizing this stream!

Klamath River restoration campaign passes major milestone.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the transfer of the Lower Klamath Project License from PacifiCorp to the @klamathriverrenewalcorp (KRRC) and the States of Oregon and California. This is a major milestone reflecting decades of work by TU and the other signatories of the Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement to restore the Klamath to a free-flowing condition. TU's California Director, Brian Johnson, has played a key role in the difficult negotiations that have brought this campaign to this point. Johnson said, “This Transfer Order is a critical step forward in the long slog to remove four old fish-blocking dams and re-opening more than 400 miles of historic habitat for the Klamath's struggling salmon and steelhead runs. Leadership from the Tribes and the States of California and Oregon has been vital in getting us to this point, and we look forward to working with these parties, the KRRC, and other signatories to restore the Klamath and resolve water use and management challenges in the upper basin. If approvals for the surrender and decommissioning plan continue to go smoothly, we'll begin construction next year and remove the dams in 2023.”
